Brakes and Wheels
Big Brake Upgrade

As stated before, my brakes were very weak when I bought the car. After some research I decided to go with the commonly done big brake upgrade. This upgrade uses the hubs from an 83 320i, calipers from a Volvo 240 Turbo, Vented calipers from a 320i, and I added a set of stainless steel brake lines to replace the rubber ones. It was an easy job except for the fact that the existing 320i 13-inch wheels did not fit over the caliper. After ruining one caliper and my car being out of commission for a couple of days, I recommed to everyone that they make sure they have the right wheels before under-taking this project.

Wheels

Like I said before, the original wheels were not able to fit over the new big brake set-up. In addition, the 13 inch wheels have the wrong off-set and would not be able to be used with a suspension upgrade. So new wheels were an eventual upgrade that needed to be done. I found a great set of wheels from a guy in New Hampshire for a great price. An 02 buddy helped me out in San Diego by lending me a not so nice set of wheels until the new ones arrived after I did the brake upgrade.
After completeing the front brakes, I noticed that one of the rear wheel cylinders was leaking. I shortly replaced both rear wheel cylinders and installed new brake shoes. After completing the brake jobs, the difference was amazing. I plan to install a 2002tii master cylinder as well in order to compensate for the big front set-up.
